There has been a surprise entry in the ASUS netbook market: the ASUS Eee PC 1000HV. This system was previously unannounced, but is available for pre-order online, and it will be coming with ATI graphics onboard.

Under the hood is the Atom N280 1.66GHz processor as well as the ATI Radeon HD 3450 video card that has its own 256MB of memory. The 1024×600 display, 1GB of RAM and 160GB of hard disk space are fairly standard in any netbook. Additional connectivity includes VGA, Ethernet, three USB 2.0 ports, auidio in/out and an SD(SDHC)/MMC card reader. Of course, you’ll also find Wifi b/g/n an Bluetooth 2.0 technology included. There doesn’t appear to be HDMI or DVI output from the graphics card yet, but you will find a 1.3 megapixel webcam, speakers and a microphone incorporated into the unit.

The 6-cell battery pack provides up to five hours of runtime, and the dimensions of the unit make it easily portable, at 26.6×19.12×3.8 cm. Ultimately, the system appears to be quite similar to the 1000HE, with the additional standalone graphics card. Pricing information is not yet available.
