We’ve never seen anything like it before! The company iUnika has just revealed their brand new solar powered netbook, and it certainly is an interesting item to check out.

Labeled the iUnikia GYY, this netbook has been designed to minimize weight and reduce energy requirements, allowing it to be powered by a solar panel on the back of the netbook which is used to recharge the internal batteries. Of course, solar power doesn’t translate too well to computing power, so the specifications are less than stellar: 400MHz processor, 128MB of RAM and a 64GB SSD hardly stands up to other netbooks on the market, but the novelty of the system does garner it a fair bit of attention.

The iUnikia GYY will come with Linux, and with its 8-inch screen, will be available to purchase in Europe some time next month, and retails for approximately $200.
