The High-Efficiency GPU for Netbooks from S3 Graphics
The recently announced new line of GPUs from S3 Graphics are specially designed for use in netbooks and low power laptops. The S3 Graphics Chrome 400 ULP series will provide support for DirectX 10.1, as well as high definition media playback. You can certainly expect some impressive results from the people at S3 Graphics, who brought us the Chrome graphics chips used in the current generation of HP Mini-Note.
There will be three different models available in the new line up. The Chrome 430 ULP is the most energy efficient of the group, with a TDB measured to be less than 7 watts. If you think you need more power, the Chrome 435 ULP can give you a bit of a boost, and finally the Chrome 440 ULP is the top-of-the-line model, capable of 1080p media playback, including the impressive dual-stream Blue-Ray video playback options.
