samsung n310 netbook

The latest review of the Samsung N310 from LaptopMag was the first we’d actually heard of this system, and it turns out that this is a pretty cool and stylish netbook (perhaps the first of its kind to be released from Samsung.)

It has pretty standard specifications on the inside, but the smooth edges and rounded corners are pretty different from previous Samsung incarnations. LaptopMag says it appears to be “modeled after a pebble.”

Specifications:

  • Intel Atom N270 processor
  • 1GB/2GB RAM
  • 160GB 5400RPM HDD
  • Intel GMA 950 graphics
  • 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi
  • Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR

The price and the rather insufficient 4-cell battery are the two strikes against this system, as LaptopMag describes:

“.. its $479 price gives us pause. For $10 less you can snatch up the Editor’s Choice-winning Samsung N110, which provides double the battery life, though in a less appealing chassis. And for $70 more you can pick up the Samsung NC20, which provides a larger 12-inch display in addition to more endurance. But if style is at the top of your mobile computing list, the Samsung N310 is worth a look.”

However, there ARE plans from Samsung to offer a six-cell battery for the N310, so only time will tell if this will improve the opinion of LaptopMag’s reviewers.
